Ernie is completing her Ph.D. in Political Science, major in Public Administration, at Northern Illinois University. Her dissertation on the federal government competitive
sourcing policy looks at pressures on and fissures in the civil service and the challenges of managing a multi-sector workforce. Ernie has published on ethics and local
government networking in Public Integrity and Publius, respectively, in addition to book chapters written in the Philippines and United Kingdom where she took her MPA and
Diploma in Human Resources. On the lighter side, she has nabbed a Word Fugitives honor from The Atlantic and hand-feeds her parakeets in-between reading C.S. Lewis and Neruda. At the AFT-CAE, Ernie has been helping in the 2007 Farm Policy reform project of the American Farmland Trust, an endeavor that can help secure the future viability and competitiveness of American agriculture.
