EPA Plant Pesticides Workshop
EPA, with the National Foundation for IPM Education, hosted a day and a half workshop to discuss the proposed regulations for plant-pesticides, first published in November 1994. EPA contracted with CAE to provide proceedings for the workshop. "Plant-pesticides" is the term used to describe plants which have been genetically engineered to resist attack from pests. EPA provided a clear explanation of what is contained in the proposed rule and how the agency believes it will implement plant-pesticide regulations with regard to data requirements, waivers and reviews. The seed industry (both public and private), in turn, explained their industry, needs and concerns about the proposed regulation.
