Conservation Compliance and Producers in the Corn Belt

Project Period:

1 year 1993-09-01 - 1994-09-01

Principal Investigator:

J. Dixon Esseks, Northern Illinois University, and Steven E. Kraft, Southern Illinois University

Description
We interviewed farmers in the corn belt about their attitudes on conservation compliance. This was a follow-up to an AFT national survey conducted in the fall of 1992, which singled out the Midwest as an area where attitudes towards conservation compliance seemed less positive. However, the survey found that most farmers in the Midwest continued to support compliance plans despite weather problems during 1993.

Outcomes
Publication (500 copies distributed), USDA briefing and news advisory.
