Policy Audit: The Economic Competition for Land

Project Period:

17 months 1997-10-01 - 1998-06-01

Principal Investigator:

Ann Sorensen, CAE; and Ed Furlong, CAE

Description
As part of AFT’s “Competition for Land” project, CAE examined the underlying economic issues and regulations determining land use in the greater Chicago region. We identified, categorized and ranked over 75 policies influencing land use decisions.

Outcomes
The resulting in-depth study was reviewed and commented on by 35 key stakeholders in the Chicago region. Their input not only improved the analysis but also helped raised awareness about the issues throughout the region. (See notes)
